2004 Pontiac Bonneville
The Pontiac Bonneville high-performance GXP trim was introduced in 2004 to bring
back the driving excitement the car once was known during the 1950's. However,
there had been little change for the Bonneville this year. In 2004, the SSEi known
as the supercharged Bonneville edition was dropped out of the line up. Newly available
however is the 16-inch chrome-plated wheels for the base trim SE sedan and a regular
3.8L V6 engine for both the SE and the SLE.
The new GXP model has a 4.6L Northstar V8 engine with a 275 horsepower and 300
pounds-feet of torque. It uses different four-speed automatic transmissions. It
is fitted with a performance-tuned fully independent suspension and rides on 18-inch
performance tires. The Bonneville can hold five or six passenger for its ample
space and its rear seats got a good legroom. The SE trim models are available
with front bucket seats or a solid three-place front bench. The GXP, in addition
to the leather bucket seats, got a brushed-aluminum gearshift handle, carbon fiber
trim and ebony-colored switches. The GXP entertained its occupants with a CD player
in a Monsoon sound and comforted them with a dual-zone automatic climate control.
The Bonnevilles can also be equipped with an XM satellite radio.
In handling these Bonneville models, according to reviews, the regular trims
seems to fail in standing out but they steer with a light touch. They also respond
capably to driver inputs and even during cornering. The SE models gives a comfortable
rides and is very easy to drive. This sedan is also among GM's best and offers
plenty of virtues that attracted big-car fanatics. The Pontiac Bonneville models
measures an overall length of 202.6" and a wheelbase of 112.2". The GXP has a
standard side-impact airbags and StabiliTrak system. Features such as antilock
brakes system remained standard on all trims.
