1999 Pontiac Bonneville
The Bonneville, when first introduced, was a quintessential, large, roomy and
fast American car. It disappeared for a time until GM brings a new line of front-drive
sedan into life. The 1999 Pontiac Bonneville among these sedans became the company's
flagship. It has 3.8L V6 engine that generates 205 horsepower and has a torque
of 230 lb-ft. at 4000 rpm. This engine, though, differs from others by having
pushrod-operated valves instead of overhead camshafts. This design is said to
reduce weight and complexity according to Pontiac.
Essentially, 1999 Bonneville were the same as that in 1998 with few minor enhancements.
Available trims for this year were the SE and the SSE, both using standard 4-speed
automatic overdrive. Maximum seating capacity for SE trims remained 6 and 5 on
the SSE. For this year, available features include dual air bags, cruise control,
tilt steering, leather seats, bucket seats, console, rear shoulder harness and
rear and center armrest. Features such as power windows, power mirrors, power
door locks, alloy wheels and rear defroster were also included. Interior conveniences
were also enhanced with features like standard air conditioning system, AM/Fm
radio and compact disc player. Power sunroof and cassette player were optional.
There are also two new exterior colors to choose from.
For all this great features, consumers had learned to love this vehicle. Different
reviews about the '99 Bonneville mentioned its compelling good gas mileage. Some
said the vehicle is a "solid, comfortable and trouble free to ride on". Also with
the vehicle's overall dimension, "it has a lot of room and is sturdy that will
make you feel protected in a mobile accident".
